Don’t miss this annual exhibition of horticulture and everything related to gardening, held in Seattle. it is the largest garden show west of Philadelphia, and considered the second largest garden show in the country. Held at the Washington State Convention Center, the show features lush, fully built display gardens, as well as a garden marketplace exclusively for plants, gardening supplies and more. You might even catch one of their educational and entertaining seminars.

Thursday, Feb 15: Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum
Visit the home of flying warbirds and thundering tanks! This Armor Museum offers a unique and unparalleled museum experience for history enthusiasts of all ages. Set amidst two spacious, working hangars, visitors can explore 26 rare warbirds and 25 combat vehicles dating back to 1935 (wth new artifacts being added each month) and speak with the engineers who helped restore them to their original condition.

Sunday, Feb 18: My Way; A Tribute to Frank Sinatra
Sunday Matinee at Tacoma Musical Playhouse. With over 50 classic songs, many which were made famous by “Old Blue Eyes” himself, this show is sure to be a hit! Come reminisce and honor the past with us and enjoy the music of Frank Sinatra, including: All of Me, The Best is Yet to Come, Fly Me to the Moon, I Get a Kick out of You, I Only Have Eyes For You, I’ll Be Seeing You, It Was A Very Good Year, and The Lady is a Tramp, to name a few. We have had a very hard time getting 24 people to signup for the Casino. If there are not 24 passengers, the bus will not go. Friday, Feb. 23: Prison Pet Partnership & Gig Harbor Mall
SOLD OUT!! – Only 18 can go on this one! This is an interesting trip. We will watch inmates train, handle and groom dogs. Identification is required. I will need to FAX your full name and DOB before we go. The demonstration is about 2.5 hours. After the visit, we will stop for lunch (on your own) at the Gig Harbor outside mall. Tuesday, February 27: Boeing Everett Plant Tour - 2nd Trip!
The “Future of Flight” Aviation Center offers a fantastic opportunity to tour the commercial jet assembly plant in Everett. Explore the dynamics of flight and experience new aviation innovations. Go behind the scenes in Boeing – in the world’s largest building – to check out how the Boeing jets are assembled. There will be time for lunch on your own in their café.
The Boeing Company does not permit photos or video cameras on the tour. No personal items are allowed on the tour. That includes purses, backpacks, waist pouches, cameras, binoculars, cell phones, etc. Lockers are available for a small fee (or you can keep them locked on our bus). The tour may require a one-third mile walk, 21 steep stairs and /or an elevator ride.

Wednesday, Feb 28: A Day in Port Gamble
Quilting anyone? This little town also has a wool yarn shop and a very fun General Store, among other things. There are several spots for lunch that are supposed to have very yummy food. Butcher & Baker Provisions, and in the General Store, there is Scratch Kitchen. We will be hoping for a beautiful day, so you can stroll around this tiny town. Quilted Strait is a very large shop in an old refurbished building. Should be an enjoyable day! If you’d like to go to one of the museums, let me know, and I will make sure they are open, as they have specific days.

Saturday, March 11: "DON QUIXOTE"
Full length ballet by Port Angeles’ own Ballet Workshop … based on episodes from Miguel de Cervantes famous novel “Man of La Mancha”. Port Angeles will welcome young breakout stars of the Houston Ballet, Sam Rodriguez and Makenzie Richter, as the principal guest artists in this action packed and fiery Spanish-themed ballet. Prepare to be enthralled by Don Quixote’s gorgeous backdrops and costumes set in mid-16th century Spain, as well as Ludwig Minkus’ sumptuous score played by the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. With a cast of over 100 homegrown Clallam County ballet & theater artists, and choreography featuring matadors, castanets and Latin flare, this showstopper is guaranteed to be the ballet event of 2018 on the Olympic Peninsula! Thursday, March 22: Downtown La Conner
This is a lovely quaint town with many fun and interesting shops: Caravan Gallery, Bunnies by the Bay, Nasty Jacks Antiques, Razzle Dazzle Gifts, Ruby Sue’s Tea & Treasurers, Walking Mod and Library Thrift Shop, to name a few. Of course, there are various restaurants to choose from and a quilt museum a block away from downtown. (The bus could drop off those wanting to visit the museum.)

Tuesday, March 27: MOHAI
Al Smith’s photography chronicled Seattle’s vibrant Central District neighborhood and the city’s African American community with great warmth and intimacy. This exhibit is a lens into 65 years of Sith’s brilliantly expressive documentary photography. The other exhibit should be quiet interesting also: It’s Raining Cats and Dogs brings together rarely seen objects and images from MOHAI’s collection taking a closer look at Puget Sound history through the stories of cats and dogs. Guaranteed fun for animal lovers of all ages – this exhibit shows the importance of these animals throughout history. Lunch on your own.

There are 23 seats for each of these mini-vacations. If you are interested, save your spot with a deposit (50%) as soon as possible. Shipley Center is required to put non-refundable deposits down for the hotels.
May 16 - 19: Salt Spring Island / Chemainus
We’ve been to Chemainus, but this time we are adding Salt Spring Island to our agenda! We will take the Shipley bus over to Victoria on the Coho on the 8:15am sailing (INC). Then it’s only about an hour drive up to Chemainus, a cute little town with fun shops, cafés, and great murals on many buildings and walls. You can enjoy your day in town and then we’ll check into Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn. In the evening, the theatre .. about 5:30pm, where we will enjoy a wonderful buffet dinner (INC). We’ll stay for the show, a comedy, Kim’s Convenience (INC) and then back to the hotel.
In the morning after breakfast (INC), you’ll get back on the bus with your luggage. A short ferry ride takes us to Salt Springs Island, a well-known artsy Canadian community. Experience the lovely waterfront, stop for a coffee, explore art galleries! After one night on the island, we’ll have breakfast (OYO), and drive back to the mainland. After a little time in Victoria, we’ll leave on the late Coho sailing. This is tentative $; I am still waiting to hear back on a few details.

June 5 - 8: Oregon Coast!
We will make a few stops before reaching The Hallmark Resort & Spa, Cannon Beach, OR. Some of the rooms will have an ocean view; check with me to find out more. This trip does not include any meals, but we will travel on the second day to Tillamook to check out the cheese factory. You will be able to sample different cheeses, and can even purchase your favorite! They also have a café, and of course, Tillamook Ice Cream! That same day we will take a train ride (INC) a 1.5 hour excursion from Rockaway Beach to Geribaldi. Back at Cannon Beach, you are on your own for dinner. The next day you can explore the beach or the beach town and try out a few cafés (OYO), enjoy some free time! 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS .. Your beautiful hotel room will have a mini-refrigerator, microwave, gas fireplace, among a few amenities. Heated pool, hot tub & sauna on site, and free bike and DVD rentals.

July 31 - Aug 2: Leavenworth!
Enjoy 2 nights at the Bavarian Lodge, right in town! Wake up each morning to a complimentary breakfast buffet. You have a choice of activities, or do them all: tubing down the Wenatchee River (Osprey Rafting) (INC), shopping in Leavenworth, Leavenworth Summer Theatre (Little Women) (INC). You can also try some wines (OYO), as there are many wineries and tasting rooms on Front Street within walking distance of the Lodge. So much to do in this town! There is an outdoor heated pool and 2 hot tubs at the Lodge. The Woodsman Pub is open in the evenings and offers local beers, wines and appetizers. Rooms have small refrigerators, microwave, coffee and more. For the ride home, we will stop at Ohme Gardens (INC) in Wenatchee. You don’t want to miss this beautiful spot. Leaving the garden, we head home to Sequim, likely stopping at a fruit stand and an eatery (OYO). Lodge breakfasts’ included in price.

October 2 - 5: Harrison Hot Springs
I’ve had a few requests for this 3-night stay at this lovely spa resort. Featuring 5 hot springs fed mineral pools, each at different temperatures, sit and relax or swim laps, indoor or out. Spa services available or do you like to golf? Much to do here. Take a walk to town; there is a great German restaurant and shops to check out. Two breakfasts, a dinner in the Copper Room, and a Harrison River cruise. (all INC); Lunch OYO at this time.

December 4 - 6: Victoria Holiday
This is our annual Victoria adventure! It includes the Coho round trip, 2 nights at the Hotel Grand Pacific, a city tour on the first day, discount coupon for the IMAX theatre, dinner at the Blue Poppy at Butchart Gardens, lights at Butchart, a stop at the Butterfly Garden and one complimentary breakfast (all INC). You will have free time to walk Victoria. PLEASE NOTE: The first 24 to sign up will be on the Shipley bus (getting you to and from the Coho).
