Michael's Message - Thankful For Our Volunteers
We now have a new way to recognize our volunteers and thank them! The President’s Volunteer Service Award program was begun in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to recognize the vital role of volunteers across America. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation, and inspires those around them to take action, too.
Shipley Center applied for and became a Certifying Organization in late 2019, and here we are listing our dedicated volunteers, with awards earned, based on their 2019 calendar year service as recorded on the volunteer sign-in sheets in the office. If you believe you have volunteered over 100 hours in 2019 and do not find your name listed, please contact us.
Did you volunteer in 2020? In January we will submit your hours for 2020 and get those awards on their way and names listed in the newsletter early next year. If you have not been signing up on the volunteer clipboard in the office, be sure to record your hours and submit them.
In the meantime, please give a hearty round of applause for our 2019 Award Winners! They will receive a Presidential letter, a certificate suitable for framing, a medallion on a red, white & blue ribbon, and a pin that can be worn with pride. Some may choose to put the pin on their Shipley Center nametag.
If you are on this list, please stop by the Center to pick up your award, or if unable to come in, call us to have it mailed to you. We also have some Volunteer of the Quarter Awards – see Our November Newsletter for those winners.

While we are grateful for all the many hours put in by our hard-working volunteers, we are thankful for all of you! An organization such as Shipley Center could not exist without its faithful members. You support us by your dues, your participation fees, and by additional donations.
Thanksgiving is a time to count our blessings, and I could all of you as a blessing to me and Shipley Center. While your celebration this year may be quite different than in the past, my wish for you is that you will have a blessed, meaningful time.
Sincerely,
Michael
